About our Founder and Past President

Ben Romans, founder and past President of Cornerstone Home Improvement, began his career in the window and siding business back in the late 1960s. His career began as an installer and expediter of window replacement, siding, enclosures, covers, and doors with numerous home improvement companies. Ben’s reputation of excellence in workmanship and service soon put him in demand resulting in the establishment of his first company, Benco Services. Benco, purely an installation company, serviced clients such as Sears, Better Homes, Heritage Exterior, First Choice, and many more for over 20 years. In 1997, well known and respected in the home improvement industry, Ben decided to take his company a step further by opening a division of Benco, Cornerstone Home Improvement as a full service company offering premium products and installation to thousands of home owners. With his existing crews and armed with the knowledge that comes from 40 plus years of experience, Ben’s company, Cornerstone Home Improvement has become one of the fastest growing, largest locally owned window and siding businesses in the KC market.
Ben has won numerous awards over the years for his expertise in installing and customer service and is listed as an Honored Professional in the National Register, WHO’S WHO in Executives and Business Professionals, recipient of many national installers Awards, Local Installer of the Month Awards, Royal Building Product’s Royal Gold Crown Dealer, Reynolds/Norandex’s Certified Home Improvement Specialist, Alside’s Exterior Designer’s Award, National Association of Remodeler’s Industry Exterior Specialty Honor Award and many more.

Brad Kleoppel, Co-owner, Vice-President
Brad began his career in this industry while he was still in high school, starting as an installer’s ‘helper’ for Ben over 17 years ago. Brad, who is VSI Certified, is a member of NARI and the local chamber. Brad worked his way up in Cornerstone Home Improvement, installing and overseeing installations of over 10,000 homes. Now co-owner, Brad is responsible for an average of over 500 home improvement projects per year. Brad schedules, orders, measures, trains, services, and supervises several installation crews, most with over 10 years experience, many with over 20. Brad’s brother, Allen, heads up our lead window installation team. Brad is anxious for one of his three sons to someday become part of our organization. Making sure that each remodeling process and installation is smooth and painless, Brad understands that referrals are the life blood of the organization. He strives to maintain 100% satisfaction on every job with expert quality workmanship and customer service from start to finish. And because Cornerstone’s philosophy has always been that you pay nothing until the installation is complete, Brad knows the importance of getting it done right the first time. This is why he and his crews feel so confident in Cornerstone’s industry-unique written installation warranty.
Brenda Walters, Co-owner, President
Brenda has been in the industry and with Cornerstone Home Improvement for over 10 years, handling an average of over 500 home improvement projects a year. One of the few women in this male dominated industry, Brenda entered into this field with aspirations of following in the footsteps of her father, Ben Romans. She oversees almost all aspects of the business which includes: sales, marketing, financing, customer and employee relations, purchasing and product agreements, training, and all financial aspects of the company. Brenda is a member of the Natl. Assoc. of the Remodeling Industry and the local chamber. Extremely proud of their three generation strong business, Brenda understands the philosophy of treating every customer’s home as if it were her own. Both of Brenda’s daughters work with her in the office, handling customer service and managing the showroom. It is her constant goal to instill in all of her employees the philosophy of excellence, expertise, and trust in all that they do…never losing sight of the fact that without the customer, Cornerstone would cease to be in business. It is important to Brenda that all of her staff present as much valuable education on product and installation differences as possible, while offering only high quality products that she would be happy putting on her own home. Brenda and her well trained professional sales staff strive to provide individualized solutions to their customers home’s unique style and needs, while maintaining a refreshing no pressure consultative approach.
